non-textual

For my non-textual/creative project, I decided to present of series of photos featuring antiquity vs. modernity. “Out with the old, in with the new” is a phrase commonly associated with revolutions. However, what really happens in real life is that the “old” always coexist with the “new”, sometimes with surprising harmony. During winter break, I took a series of pictures around Beijing focusing on the juxtaposition of older buildings with modern elements. The goal behind this project is to challenge the stereotypical idea that revolutions necessarily lead to the complete destruction of the “old”.
